Hi all, Just letting you know we had a very good day today. Our U7 Red team had 5 wins, 1 draw, and 1 loss (to the winning U7 team), finishing 2nd overall, our U9s were second overall too with similar results to the U7s, and our U10 Development team (Champions Cup Team) won their division undefeated. U6s and U8s both had a very hard day, it was the U6 team's first carnival, but they had some good wins and were quite proud of themselves. Overall these results gave Southport Soccer Club 2nd overall for the day, which made every one of us very proud! Fred PS. Photos to follow from several parents soon.
The Under 17 Girls are the first team through to the Grand Finals this year after beating Kingscliffe away from home.
The Under 11 girls won their game so they play next weekend. ( penalty shootout I think? )
The Under 13 Div 3 boys won a penalty shootout after the scores were locked at 2-2 after extra time. They play Coomera away next weekend.
The Under 12 Div 1 boys beat their bogey team Palm Beach 3-0 to set up an away game with Bond ( quite sure) next Sat.
Finally, comiserations to the Under 11 Div 3 side who bowed out of the semi's after they went down 2-0 to Burleigh at Mt Tamborine.
Well done everyone.

What a great day for Southport Soccer Club as 3 more sides have made the Grand Finals next weekend. Th7 girls are already there and now we have 4 teams so far.
The U 11 Girls beat Burleigh 2-0 to progress
The U12 Div 1 boys trounced Bond 5-1 to set up a date with Runaway Bay.
And Mark'sU13 Div 3 boys survived extra time to win 2-1 courtesy of a penalty.
Well done Coaches, players and parents.
Unfortunately, we didn't win any of our 3 Grand Finals today BUT all 3 sides did our Club proud. The 1st side to play today was Des's Under 11 girls. This side has a girl who hasn't turned 9 yet and several who are eligible to play 11's again next season. They've had a great run to make the GF and earned everyones respect today. They went down 5-1 but with the exception of a 10 min period, they were equal to Mudgeeraba in every way. Well done girls and well done Des.
Next up were the Under 12 Div 1 boys. They were up against there old foe in Runaway Bay. This was a good contest from the off and a physical encounter to put it mildly. Chances were at a premium and Bay made the most of the few chances that came their way. It finished up 2-0 to Bay, but again the boys can hold their heads up high. Well done to Russell and Shane for getting the team to the GF for the 2nd year in a row.
Our last match of the day was between our Under 13 Div 3 boys vs Broadbeach United. Coach Mark Mackney has gained a few grey hairs over the last 2 weeks. His side has had to play extra time twice and even a penalty shoot out to make the GF. He was very proud of his boys for making the GF and even more so today when his boys took the lead early in the 1st half. A long range speculator fooled the Broady keeper to make it 2 nil and we started to think this could be our day. Broady found a way back after a lucky break and were soon back level. Heads had dropped and we didn't have time to regroup and they had hit the front 3-2 on the stroke of half time. The 2nd half failed to deliver any more goals although we had a good shout for a dotty turned down to the disgust of the Southport faithful. Mark must be very proud of the lads efforts, not just today but throughout the whole season.
Sunday we have the Under 17 Girls playing Kingscliffe at 10.30 am so good luck to the girls.
Cheers
Steve B
